Use your words...

There is something to be said for sharing how you feel. In my short 21 years of life I have seen the affects of good and bad communication. Here are a few thoughts on the subject:

1- If you are upset about something don't bottle it in and if you do, don't blow up about something trivial to unsuspecting passersby. Find someone who will listen to what you have to say to help give you perspective.

2- Why does it seem like everyone is so non-confrontational? (I'm this way too so maybe I should take my own advice) If you have a problem, it often doesn't hurt to talk to the person that you have a problem with. But don't yell...be calm. Maybe even think through the conversation first. I've seen how yelling at a person doesn't work.

3- If someone is trying to talk to you about something you've done wrong, don't get huffy about it. Try to see where they are coming from, they might actually have something valid to say. Any conversation will go so much smoother if you aren't butting in every minute with "I didn't say that." or "That's so not true."

4- The world would probably be so much better if every one took the time to thoughtfully listen. It seems like everyone is competing to see who can top who in a yelling match. Things would be so much more productive if voices were toned down and listening actually took place.

I feel like effective communication has become a little bit of a lost art form. We all vent our feelings through blogging, facebook, writing in journals, texting and those can be good means to express feelings but it will never solve that problem.

So people of the world...Talk...express yourself...use you words.
